What are positive affirmations?
Positive affirmations are phrases we say to ourselves either out loud or in our minds that greatly affect our subconscious mind.
Affirmations can be negative or positive and shape how we feel and what we believe about ourselves. They can either lift us up or make us feel pretty awful depending on the type of phrases we’re repeating in our minds.
When we say or think about affirmations it brings vivid mental images to our subconscious mind which influence our feelings, thoughts, behavior, and how we perceive situations we encounter.
Some people don’t believe in positive affirmations and think they don’t work. The truth is, if you know how to use them effectively they can help you manifest awesome things! It does take some trial and error in figuring out what works for you. If you’d like to learn about an amazingly effective process for using positive affirmations I learned from my mentor, Andy Dooley, then go here. What Goes on in Our Minds Everyday
It is estimated that we have somewhere between 50,000 and 70,000 thoughts per day. Of all those thoughts, 98% are the exact same thoughts we had the day before.
Pretty interesting, right?

And 80% of our daily thoughts are negative.
So considering those numbers, we are pretty much plagued by negative thoughts most of the time. Our brains are hardwired to focus more on negative things than positive ones. Our subconscious minds also accept the repeated affirmations as the truth.
Being more aware of negative thoughts and situations served us well thousands of years ago when there were physical threats regularly in everyday life. Unfortunately, even though we don’t have those same threats today, we still have the negative minds of our early ancestors.
Our thoughts put out vibrational frequencies to the Universe and events and situations corresponding to our thoughts are attracted back into our lives.
We get more of the same.
Our thoughts really do become things.
There’s Good News Though…
We can use positive affirmations and change the way we think by putting the right vibrational frequencies out into the Universe. This is how to attract the great things we’ve always wanted in life but just didn’t think we could have.
I’m living proof of this. I used to be a very negative person and because of it, I had a lot of unfortunate circumstances happen in the past.
So Does It Really Work? Yep, Here’s My Experience…
One day I just figured out that I can actually choose to think and feel what I want. The only one who is in control of my life and how things play out is me.
Soon after I started repeating positive affirmations to myself every day my life started to shift pretty fast. I have been absolutely amazed at times by the power of positive affirmations. I now have figured out how to manifest awesome things in my life. I’ve done it over and over again. My whole life changed for the better.
You might be thinking this all sounds fine and good, but it won’t work for you.
I get that, I totally do.
The first few times I repeated affirmations to myself I thought it was totally corny and I knew I didn’t believe what I was saying at all.
Our brains don’t like to hold two conflicting beliefs at the same time, therefore, most people’s minds initially reject positive affirmations at first.
For example, one of the affirmations I started with was, “Money flows to me easily, freely and from everywhere.”
This was laughable at the time. I remember thinking, “Yeah, right. You have no money, nor will you…you’ve known that for years!”
Even though I thought it was hokey I stuck with it because I knew so many really successful people swear by positive affirmations. Within a few weeks of doing it daily, I could actually FEEL what it was like for the positive affirmations to be true. This is why if you start, you’ve gotta stick with it! Consistency is key!
The Importance of Using the Right Positive Affirmation Phrasing
So let’s get to the affirmations, already, right? Oh, but there’s one more thing I want to tell you, your positive affirmations need to be phrased a certain way. Take a look at the examples below:
Don’t do this: I want to eliminate debt.
This is bad because the Universe makes no distinction between positive or negative words like “debt.” The Universe hears “debt” and then delivers more of the same.
Also, don’t phrase the affirmations as something you want. Phrase them as something you already have and enjoy.
Do this instead: I have complete financial freedom.
See the difference?
Okay, so here are 45 positive affirmations to help you retrain your subconscious mind so you can start to raise your vibrational frequency:

I read these affirmations before falling asleep. My vibration was low. I know that if I fall asleep in that state, I wake up tired and uninspired. Not this time. Tomorrow is a wonderful day.

Hi Diederik!
You’re so right! We have to go to bed in the same state we want to wake up in. Whatever we “are” is what we will get more of. I’m so glad this article and affirmations were helpful to you. Thanks so much for reading and your kind comment. I hope you woke up in a great state and have a wonderful day. 🙂

Hey there! Thanks for stopping by!
That’s a great question! I think affirmations go hand-in-hand with building habits. Affirmations raise your vibration and help keep a positive mindset, but they won’t magically lead you to taking action.
That’s a choice you have to make to meet the Universe half way. Affirmations used with goals and habits you’ve created will lead to the action.
What I can say is when you use affirmations and get in the habit of taking consistent action, the easier taking action becomes.
I hope that helps!
