My Journey & How I Began to Heal Emotional Trauma

Like many people, I’ve faced my share of challenges throughout my life. For years, I suppressed my emotions or tried to minimize them, priding myself on being tough and unaffected by what had happened. I kept telling myself to leave the past behind because it didn’t matter anymore. For a while, this seemed to work, but the truth is, those emotions were always there, affecting me negatively. It manifested in poor mental health, including depression and anxiety. Eventually, I started experiencing anxiety attacks and had to quit my full-time job.

The effects didn’t stop there. Without healthy coping strategies, I turned to binge eating and gained 100 lbs in less than a year. I isolated myself, lost all confidence, and felt miserable and useless most days.

It took me years to find my way through all of that. I did a lot of healing on my own, but for a time, I attended counseling regularly and took medications. However, I knew I didn’t want to rely on medications forever, despite what doctors advised. This realization led me to begin my natural healing journey, which I’ll be sharing more about on this blog. If you’re currently taking medications, know that there’s no judgment from me—we’re all on our own paths.

I found healing through regular movement, drastically changing my lifestyle and diet, meditation, improving my sleep, minimizing stress, practicing Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), hypnosis, and most recently, the Emotion Code. None of this happened overnight, but it was all worth it. I’ve lost 70 lbs, I no longer take medications, and I feel better than I did in my 20s. If you’re struggling right now, please don’t give up. Keep going and seek support if you need it.
